Hull and Pitze, students at Oklahoma Christian University, visited Cancún, Mexico, with their boyfriends.

Their picture-perfect vacation quickly changed after the girls grabbed a drink at a resort bar on Friday.

The friends asked for a glass of water, but the girls quickly fell over and Hull began having some “sudden movements,” according to the ABC affiliate. KOCO-TV.

Pitze recalled that the girls were then taken back to their rooms in wheelchairs, according to the CBS affiliate. KWTV.

“We were outside, we couldn’t walk, we couldn’t talk, we couldn’t do anything,” she said.

Pitze explained that she woke up feeling bad the next morning.

“It hurt to open my eyes, I was very nauseous, I couldn’t move,” she recalled.

She explained that the nightmare continued when she discovered that Hull had been sent to a hospital overnight.

“I started having convulsions in my stomach, so they called 911,” Hull said.

The pair are back in the US, but Hull remains in hospital as doctors try to figure out what mysteriously happened.

It’s not yet known what could have caused the girls’ condition, but their families suspect their drinks were spiked with synthetic fentanyl, according to KWTV.

“We don’t have a lot of answers, we don’t know a lot, we don’t know what she received at that hospital down there, we don’t know what she received at the resort,” Hull’s mother said. Rilee Works said.

Her family set up a GoFundMe Page where they recalled their horror and how they ended up with bills worth thousands of dollars.

The fundraiser said Hull was charged a $10,000 hospital deposit to begin treatment.

“Over the next few hours, his convulsions continued,” the page said.

“A CT scan was done and showed no cause. She was placed in the ICU.”

Her family also alleged that her boyfriend was charged $200 to spend the night in the hospital.

Hull’s family and friends contacted the US Embassy, who reportedly told them to take her back home.

“The hospital requested another $25,000 by Sunday morning to continue treatment or $5,000 to release her,” they wrote.

Her family added that they needed to pay another $26,000 deposit to get an air ambulance to take the student back to the US.

BACK HOME

Hull arrived home on Sunday, August 4, and has been hospitalized ever since.

His family shared updates about his improving health.

“She was also taken out of the ICU!” the page said.

“For now she is spending time in the neurology unit as her body continues to detox from being overmedicated at the Mexican hospital.”

“Once again, we ask everyone to continue to lift them up in prayer as the healing process continues,” the family added.

The fundraiser raised more than $18,000 but is still short of its goal of $40,000.

Hull’s boyfriend’s mother, Stephanie Snider, said the incident caused great stress and anxiety for everyone involved.

“Something must be done to stop these things from happening. It’s every parent’s nightmare,” she said, according to the Online Mail.
