THREE family members were found dead in a house after a scheming mother allegedly set a fatal trap for her neighbors.
A family is accused of shooting three police officers, killing one and wounding two, in their Florida home where suspect Julie Ann Sulpizio tried to lure her neighbors, who she claimed were pedophiles, police said.
Sulpizio, 48, was arrested on 12 charges, including premeditated murder of a police officer and multiple counts of attempted murder, according to State Attorney Bill Gladson.
Deputy Sheriff Bradley Link, 28, was killed in the ambush Friday night. Two other deputies were injured.
Link and another deputy responded to a 911 call for help Friday when Sulpizio’s neighbors reported she was assaulting them, Lake County Sheriff Peyton Grinnell said at a news conference Monday.
“The complainant stated that she was acting religiously, accusing them of being sinners, and she knows ‘what they did,’” Grinnell said.
“They identified Julie Sulpizio as a neighbor, but Julie claims she is ‘Helen, under the will of God.’”
When police arrived to break up the fight, Sulpizio told officers that his neighbors were involved in pedophilia, Grinnell said.
Grinnell said Sulpizio told the group, “Julie is in heaven.”
After a third officer arrived, Sulpizio was handcuffed and taken into custody.
Officers then decided to conduct a welfare check at Sulpizio’s nearby home after she allegedly used religious references to try to lure them to the home, Grinnell said.
