One man died and another was in critical condition after a shooting inside a supermarket Tuesday night near Thomas and Scottsdale roads, police said.
According to Scottsdale police officers, the two men got into an argument inside an Albertsons that culminated in both men shooting each other. No bystanders were injured in the shooting, police said.
Both men were taken to a hospital with life-threatening gunshot wounds and one died at the hospital, police said.
Officers responded to the supermarket around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday after several people inside the store called 911 to report the shooting, police said. Due to the volume of calls reporting multiple gunshots, authorities said police responded as if it was an active shooting situation.

“Officers responded quickly to stabilize the scene, locate any suspects, protect innocent bystanders, begin assisting those injured, and locate any witnesses,” the Scottsdale Police Department said in a news release. “Responding officers thoroughly searched the store, looking for anyone involved, injured or still hiding.”
The incident was being investigated as an isolated incident between three men involved in an argument that ended in gunfire, police said. It was unclear at the time whether the two shooters knew each other before the incident.
The third man was found by detectives and interviewed, the release noted. However, it was unclear at the time what his involvement was.
None of the three men involved in the fight were identified by police.
