PARIS — Rapper Travis Scott was arrested following an alleged altercation involving a security guard and his own bodyguard at a luxury hotel in central Paris, French authorities said Friday.

“I can confirm that on August 9, 2024, police officers were called to the George V hotel and arrested the rapper nicknamed Travis Scott for assaulting a security guard,” the Paris prosecutor said in a statement.

“Security intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard. The Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office referred the case to the 1st district of the Judiciary Police,” the statement said, without adding further details.

A rep for Scott said the rapper was “stalked and harassed” by paparazzi for days “without help.” He was arrested after fighting with his own security team.

The representative said they are in communication with local authorities “to quickly resolve this matter.”

Scott, 33, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was photographed in the crowd at Thursday’s men’s Olympic basketball semifinal, in which the U.S. team came from behind to secure a 4-point victory and advance. to the final and a shot at winning the gold.

The George V hotel, close to Paris’ famous Champs-Élysées and overlooking the Eiffel Tower, has several Michelin-starred restaurants.

Scott was arrested in June on charges of disorderly intoxication after allegedly yelling at people on a yacht in Miami Beach, Florida. His lawyer said the incident was a simple “misunderstanding”.

Scott has not spoken publicly or reacted to the arrest. The Associated Press said it contacted a representative for Scott but did not receive a response.

Linda Hervieux reported from Paris; Patrick Smith reported from London.
