A WALMART customer was going to make the megastore’s receptionist “work” to check his receipt after being forced to show the contents of three bags.

The angry shopper shared his frustrations with Walmart on Facebook.

The complaint comes after many shoppers complained about the store's policies

“Dear Walmart,” the social media post began.

“I just spent $96 on household cleaning supplies and was left with just 3 bags and a broom.”

“One lady saw me turn everything on and another wanted to check my receipt on the way out to get the broom,” he continued.

“Both of them could have called me. Neither of them could have caught me if I was actually stealing and started running.”

“Next time we’re all going to exercise because I’m going to run. You’re going to work for this receipt colleague,” she concluded.

Many of the user’s friends expressed their sentiment.

“I don’t show them anything,” one person commented.

“I tell them to bring their cameras back and get out the door.”

“I always walk past them when they ask for my receipt,” said a second person.

“Like you guys saw me call all this shit and then ask for a receipt.”

‘They didn’t let me out,’ cries a Walmart shopper after forgetting her receipt – she was forced to wait in line

The policy, which began as a method of trying to prevent theft, has since spiraled out of control, leaving several paying customers furious.

In retaliation, many paying customers began simply leaving the store, refusing to stop to pay the cashier.

In one case, a loyal customer said he was chased by the clerk into the store’s parking lot after refusing to show his receipt.

What is Walmart Scan and Go?

Walmart’s Scan and Go is designed to save shoppers time

Walmart’s Scan and Go system was created to help customers scan items as they shop, pay and check out, without waiting in long checkout lines.

The retailer outlines the new system to be implemented in a few easy steps:

  • Customers first need to download the Walmart app on their phone with location access enabled.
  • On the Store Mode home page, buyers must click on the Scan and Go option.
  • Customers can scan each item and place them in their carts as they shop.
  • At the end, they will be asked to view their cart to ensure the quantity in the app matches the quantity in their cart.
  • Shoppers will press “Check Out” and head to a self-checkout kiosk.
  • They will be asked to scan the QR code provided at the cash register and confirm their payment method.
  • Once the transaction is complete, shoppers can leave the store without any worries.

“I haven’t been to Walmart for this reason in years,” said the shopper he wrote in X.

“In 2018, I had no idea they checked receipts, so I just left with my stuff that I paid for.

“I wasn’t even halfway to the car when security came chasing me, making a scene as if I were robbing a store.

“The worst part is that I had already thrown away my receipt, so I had to go back and check that everything was paid for.”

However, it appears this isn’t the first time customers say they’ve encountered an overly aggressive employee.

In 2019, a customer managed to film a confrontation between him and a store employee in the store’s parking lot.

“I don’t need to show my receipt,” the man said in a video uploaded to YouTube.

“Actually, you do,” an employee responded.

Finally, after much back and forth, the buyer handed over the receipt.
