Donald Trump’s presidential campaign claimed it was hacked by Iran in June.

He did not provide further details about the alleged hack, but Cheung told NBC, the US network associated with Sky News, that the campaign had been hacked by an Iranian group in June “which coincides with the near time when President Trump elected a vice president.” presidential candidate.”

Sky News has not independently verified the identity of the alleged hackers or their motivation.

The Trump campaign referred to a report from Microsoft researchers that said hackers linked to the Iranian government tried to break into the account of a “high-ranking official” in a US presidential campaign in June.

Hackers took over an account belonging to a former political adviser and then used it to attack the official, according to the report.

That report did not provide further details about the targets’ identities.

A Microsoft spokesperson declined to name the officials targeted or provide additional details after the report was published, according to the Reuters news agency.

Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations in New York rejected the hacking allegations, saying “the Iranian government does not possess or harbor any intention or motive to interfere in the United States presidential election.”

Under the Trump administration, the United States killed Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani in 2020 and withdrew from a multilateral nuclear deal with Iran, causing strains in relations between Washington and Tehran.

“Iranians know that President Trump will stop his reign of terror just as he did in his first four years in the White House,” Cheung said.

It comes as a new poll suggests the Democratic presidential candidate. Kamala Harris He is ahead of Trump in the three key battleground states: Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

Harris was projected to beat Trump by 50% to 46% among likely voters in the three states, according to the New York Times/Siena College poll.
