The final photo taken by missing Brit Tom Doherty shortly before he disappeared in the dangerous Pyrenees mountains has been revealed.

Tom, a 67-year-old retired doctor, disappeared on August 6, with his family desperately trying to access his Apple files in the hope of finding a new clue as to where he might be.

A photo message sent two and a half hours before he stopped responding to any messages on his phone showed Tom’s view of a mountain.

He captioned it with the word “sodomite” – raising concerns from his family that he had been caught in bad weather, hence the expression he used.

Tom’s wife Anne, who flew in to help with the search, says the family regularly received photos of their camping expedition.

The family believes that accessing Tom’s Apple account on his phone could provide a groundbreaking clue to finding him.

In a social media post, a woman who said Tom was her uncle wrote: “We desperately need access to your Mac laptop, which has been locked because we tried your password too many times.

“We need to get into this so we can see the last location of your latest photos in iCloud and try to get into your Find My.”

Examining his device could help authorities identify the exact location where the father’s phone last rang and bring them closer to finding out where he is.

Serious fears began when the father-of-four from St Albans, Hertfordshire, sent an alarming message to his family before disappearing on Tuesday night.

The WhatsApp message said: “Help, I fell and can’t move.”

He has not been heard from since.

A major search involving dogs and helicopters in the French Pyrenees mountains was later launched after his wife reported him missing.

But hunting was hampered by poor visibility due to poor weather conditions near the Ariège region, near Franceborder with Spain and Andorra.

Anne and one of her daughters are at their last known location as of Wednesday morning.

Police found his car near Col D’Escots with the family saying he may have been walking near Cirque De Gerac.

They are reportedly “shocked” by the situation, but are trying to remain positive.

Tom’s niece Kat Waterhouse told The Sun: “No one has been able to contact him since.

“The helicopter was in search and rescue and did everything it could, but there was absolutely nothing.

“It looks like he got hurt himself.

“I mean, the helicopter didn’t see him, so he could have crawled into shelter.

“He’s a doctor, so he’s quite resourceful. But we have no idea. We have to hope, don’t we?”

More members of Tom’s family flew in on Thursday to join the search.

Tom was a respected tropical medicine consultant who worked around the world and specialized in Malaria.

Anne says he likes to walk, but is usually only outside for two to three hours at a time.

The couple own a home in southwestern France and spent much of their retirement with their family in the region.
