Five of the ship’s passengers were rescued, but the yacht finally sank entirely around 5 p.m., according to Euro Weekly News.

Port Adriano, in the city of Calvia, issued an emergency alert at around 10 am, as soon as they noticed that the ship was beginning to sink.

The European Maritime Safety Agency immediately sent a boat while police rushed to the scene.

Rescue teams did not arrive in time, but a private boat managed to rescue five people on board.

Just five were on board the ill-fated vessel before they were taken to safety near Port Adriano in southwest Mallorca.

The yacht’s passengers included a German couple with their son.

Authorities say the interior of the luxury boat completely flooded when the boat began to sink.

Spanish police have not yet revealed the cause of the sinking, but have not reported any contamination of the boat itself.
