Donald Trump promises ‘bigger and better’ rally after canceling North Carolina event less than an hour early due to weather

TERRIBLE weather prevented Donald Trump’s first political rally since the start of his criminal trial.

A strong storm in North Carolina caused the former president to cancel the rally less than an hour before the event was scheduled to begin.

The rally was supposed to begin at 7 p.m., but news of the impending storm halted it before it could begin.

A few thousand supporters were already present near the Wilmington airport when Trump personally took the stage to cancel the event.

“They asked us to tell people to leave and seek shelter,” Trump said.

“What we will do is make up for it very quickly at another time… We want to keep everyone safe.”

“So if you don’t mind, could you just check in,” he asked his devoted followers.

The presumptive Republican nominee promised the crowd a “bigger and better” event at the same location at a later date.

The city of Wilmington has declared a severe thunderstorm warning until 7:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

After that, the city is expected to remain on alert for severe storms in the area until 10 p.m.

Residents were asked to be careful with strong winds and hail.

Earlier in the day, the storm devastated Charlotte, producing 70 mph wind gusts and a hail storm.

‘IT’S A TOTAL CONFUSION’

The rally in North Carolina was supposed to be the first event Trump has held since the start of his criminal trial.

The Apprentice star is accused of paying adult film actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 to hide his alleged 2006 affair.

The money was reportedly given to Daniels through Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, before the 2016 election.

It was said that the former president then began reimbursing Cohen in installments, which he called “attorney fees” in company records.

Trump has repeatedly denied the allegations made against him and claims he never had a sexual encounter with the actress.

He currently faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in connection with the $130,000 payment.

Speaking to reporters after a court case, he said he should campaign for the next election instead of going to court.

“[But instead] I’ve been here all day,” he fumed, insisting the trial against him is “unfair.”

Trump then showed a stack of news articles he believed were important to the case.

“The whole thing is a mess,” he said.
