A 33-year-old Passaic man was shot and killed Sunday morning in the city, the Passaic County District Attorney’s Office announced Sunday night.

Passaic police responded to the area of ​​224-226 6th Street, near Essex Street, in Passaic around 3:25 a.m. after a report of shots being fired, the prosecutor said. The officer found the man with a gunshot wound to the chest and he was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, a statement from the district attorney’s office said.

The man’s identity and details of the shooting have not been released. There is a three-story apartment complex near Pulaski Park in the area of ​​the shooting.
