Catfish host Nev Schulman says he’s “lucky to be here” after breaking his neck in an accident between his bike and a truck.

The 39-year-old said the incident occurred last week when he was on his way to pick up his son from school in New York, adding that he was expected to make a full recovery.

He announced the news by sharing a series of photos and videos on Instagram He is seen wearing a neck brace in the hospital and an x-ray of the fracture.

In other clips he can be seen trying to stand up with help, gently hugging his children and showing the crack in his cycling helmet.

Along with the publication he wrote: “It’s true what they say: life can change in an instant.

“I never got to pick my son up from school on a bike. In fact, in a way, I’m glad I didn’t. I was alone in the impact. Me and the truck. And then I guess the pavement.

“I was alone and unconscious. And then conscious. Maybe I was okay (I wasn’t). Maybe I can still do my long run on Thursday (I couldn’t).”

He said he broke his neck but his “stable fractures” would not leave him paralyzed.

“My hands were a question mark for a minute, but the human body is amazing and so are HUMANS,” he wrote, before praising the care he received from doctors, including those in the emergency unit and intensive care staff. that they treated him.

Schulman added: “It’s hard to feel sorry for myself when I hear doctors say that many people with similar injuries will never walk again.

“I am lucky to be here, alive, standing and hugging my family, with the projection of making a full recovery.

“And I’m really starting to understand the meaning of gratitude. For the big and small things before the accident, and now for everything moving forward.”
