(Reuters) -At least two people were killed and six others were injured in a shooting at a party in Memphis, Tennessee, on Saturday, police said.
“During the follow-up investigation, we discovered there were 8 victims in total, with two of them deceased at the scene,” Memphis police said in an updated statement published on X.
Police had previously said 16 people were shot.
One of the injured remains in critical condition, while another has been released, police said.
“This was a block party that was taking place without permission,” police said. The block party had around 200-300 people in attendance.
At least two suspects are being sought, CBS News said, citing Memphis Police Acting Chief Cerelyn Davis.
“We believe there are at least two individuals who fired weapons during this incident,” Davis told CBS News.
