The convicted murderer could face the death penalty for his heinous crimes.

On June 12, 2024, a Lee County jury found him guilty of the first-degree murder of two women – Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz of Cape Coral, Florida – who were killed on October 7, 2019.

He was found guilty of killing and strangling Melton the morning after the bar encounter.

Wilson was also convicted of strangling, beating and running over Ruiz on the same day. He was also found guilty of robbery, assault, robbery and petty theft.

Turn off the car for me, I’ll detain you until I find out what exactly is going on.

Officer, Fort Myers Police Department

And now, intense body camera footage – shown in court on June 11 – has been revealed.

Wilson was filmed by a Fort Myers Police Department officer while driving a car he stole from ex-girlfriend Melissa Montanez after murdering Melton, reported the Daily Mail.

In the video, he was asked how he was doing: “What’s going on, man?” the officer asked Wilson, who was shirtless in Montanez’s car outside a local restaurant.

Montanez contacted police to say he attacked her at the spa she manages and stole her vehicle.

Who is Wade Wilson and what was he convicted of?

Wilson – who has the same name as comic book character Deadpool – told the officer he was waiting for his girlfriend.

“That’s no problem,” the officer responded, adding that he had received a call about someone sitting in a car.

An agitated Wilson – who remained in the driver’s seat – told him his girlfriend was on her way.

“Here’s what’s going to happen,” the officer replied.

“Shut off the car for me, I’ll detain you until I figure out what exactly is going on.

TOLD YOU TO RELAX

“I’m going to make you get out of the car and I’m going to stop you – not arrest you – stop you – right now. OK, and I can’t get in trouble, do you understand me?”

“Just relax. Let me see the car keys. Let me see the car keys. Keys. Keys. Wait, aren’t we going to get in trouble?” the officer asked the clearly agitated Wilson.

“Give me the car keys,” he demanded, as the man refused to hand them over and opened the window so that it was completely closed to the officer.

The man then partially rolled down the left front window again while the officer told him to wait while he called for backup.

“Don’t go anywhere,” the officer ordered.

Ran away from the police

But Wilson closed the driver’s window again and suddenly fled the scene.

Bodycam shows the officer immediately running to his cruiser to chase the man.

Wade Wilson Case – An Overview

Who: Wade Wilson, 30, of Fort Myers, Florida.

Crime: On June 12, he was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder, robbery, assault, robbery and petit larceny.

Victims:

  • Kristine Melton, 35, worked as a waitress and lived with a friend in Cape Coral, Florida.
  • Diane Ruiz, 43, was a bride and mother of two who worked as a bartender in Cape Coral.

When: Both women were killed on October 7, 2019. Wilson was 25 years old.

As:

  • Melton was strangled in bed as she slept after meeting Wilson in a bar with her friend Stephanie Sailors. After murdering Melton and wrapping her bruised and broken body, he stole her car.
  • Hours later, he attacked Ruiz, who was walking to work. He lured her into his car after asking for directions to a local school. They then fought in the vehicle, her mother tried to escape and he strangled, beat and ran her over several times.

Defense: Mental illness and drug addiction. Forensic psychiatrist Dr. Mark Mills said Wilson suffered from “some type of psychotic disorder.”

Jury Decision: On June 25, the jury voted 9-3 and 10-2 in favor of the death penalty for both murders.

Phrase: Judge Nicholas Thompson was due to sentence Wilson on July 23. But that was delayed until this month as the two defense experts were unavailable. The date was reset to August 27th.

Wilson, 30, went viral online following her court appearance, particularly because of her extensive facial tattoos.

The killer had a large swastika tattooed on the side of his shaved head.

He has another swastika painted below his right eye and lines of scars etched around his mouth.

SMILE KILLER

Wilson was branded “soulless” on social media for “smirking” during his court appearances.

“Watch the psychopathic smile on the serial strangler’s face,” said one X user.

Wilson, who was 25 at the time of the double murder, met Melton, 35, and her friend Stephanie Sailors in a bar hours before her death.

They ended the night at Melton’s house, and Wilson waited until her friend left to strangle her to death while she slept.

STOLEN CAR

Wilson then stole Melton’s car and began driving around Cape Coral when he saw Ruiz, 43, walking down the street.

He asked her for directions and lured her into his car before attacking her – brutally strangling her, beating her and running her over with his car up to 20 times.

During her murder trial, Steven Testasecca, Wilson’s father, told the court that her body was left “looking like spaghetti.”

TOXIC THROW

Last month, an ex-girlfriend opened up about her toxic relationship.

Kelly Matthews said she wasn’t surprised to learn of Wade Wilson’s arrest after his 2018 case ended in sickening abuse.

Wilson’s jury recommended the death penalty for each murder.

He will learn his fate when he appears in court on August 27.

“Both murders were especially heinous, atrocious and cruel,” Florida Assistant State Attorney Sara Miller told the Fox affiliate. KDFW.

“He inflicted pain and showed complete indifference to her [Melton’s] life.”
