Harris campaign target of ‘foreign actor influence operation’, according to FBI | US News

The FBI has told Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign that it was the target of a “foreign actor influence operation.”

In a statement, shared with NBC News, the American network associated with Sky News, Mrs. Harris The campaign said: “In July, the FBI notified the campaign’s legal and security teams that we were the target of an influence operation by a foreign actor.

“We have robust cybersecurity measures in place and are not aware of any security breaches of our systems as a result of those efforts.

“We remain in communication with the appropriate law enforcement authorities.”

The news website Politico said it had received emails in July from an anonymous source offering documents from inside the former president’s home. operation, including a report on the running mate JD Vance’s “possible vulnerabilities.”

Cheung later told NBC that the campaign had been hacked by an Iranian group in June, “which coincides with the near timing of President Trump’s selection of a vice presidential candidate.”

It also comes after the FBI said Monday it was investigating attempts to hack the Biden-Harris and Trump presidential campaigns.

This is not the first time there have been allegations of interference in US elections by foreign states.

In 2019, analysis by a former senior FBI official concluded that Russian hackers used a technology company owned by a Russian businessman to hack Democratic Party officials.

The previous year, the United States imposed sanctions on 19 Russians for alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election.
