‘It was convincing’, cries the mother who lost $5,000 to fake Keanu Reeves – he sent an ID photo, but she missed a crucial clue

A MOM who was scammed out of more than $5,000 by someone pretending to be Keanu Reeves remains convinced she was hacked by the actor.

The woman revealed that the person pretending to be actor Keanu Reeves even showed her a photo of his ID.

The woman, who did not reveal her name, is 65 years old, married and mother of two children.

She lives in Colorado and said she still believed she was in contact with the real Reeves.

One of the reasons she believed him was because he sent her a photo of his ID.

“It was up to date. It was convincing,” she told CBS News.

The image can be easily found online through Google search, and there are dozens of different identifications with Reeves’ face and information photoshopped onto them.

The woman discussed her relationship with the person posing as Reeves with the media, revealing that they had been speaking since 2022.

“He is always very romantic and flirtatious,” she said.

“We had great conversations,” she continued.

“We talked about everything from what we ate for breakfast to sex in the shower.”

The woman first contacted the hacker in a Facebook group.

“Suddenly I’m talking to him. I was shocked, very shocked,” she said.

“Keanu Reeves on my Facebook page, why?”

Her relationship with the hacker progressed until they requested money from her in the form of gift cards, transfers, and more.

The woman sent the hacker about $5,000.

She also provided the hacker with sensitive information such as her social security number and tax documentation.

In exchange, the hacker who pretended to be Reeves promised him international travel and even marriage.

“This is the real Keanu Reeves,” she said.

“I can tell you what movies he’s working on.”

“We talked about all kinds of things.”

Although the woman believes she is in a relationship with Reeves, she is not the first to fall prey to such an attack.

Keanu Reeves’ scam has affected many people over the years and has been the subject of media interest.

The victims, who are usually women, believe they have a real relationship with the actor.

Reeves’ representatives have come forward and revealed that Reeves does not have any social media pages.
