Heartbreaking footage shows desperate drivers trying to free the family as the front of the car catches fire.

The car, wrecked on a busy highway in Yuncheng, northern China, appeared to have crashed head-on into a truck.

A firefighter and a bystander could be seen reaching for the back window after trying to break down the door before the explosion.

The engine was traveling at 115 km per hour at the time of the accident.

Local authorities are now investigating the incident together with the electric car manufacturer.

The boy, his father and his father’s brother-in-law died in the terrible accident.

His mother raised concerns about automatic emergency braking systems malfunctioning during the accident, Shine reports.

One of the drivers who rushed to help could be seen getting into the car via the broken video, but was unable to remove whoever was catching up.

The family bought the Huawei Aito M7 just three months before the terror.

Aito Automobile is a new car brand launched in 2021 and its M7 model comes with autonomous driving system.

It is supposed to allow the driver to navigate busy city roads and highways without relying on a map.

The company released data on the car before the accident and said the airbags deployed as they should and battery readings were also normal.

He is cooperating with the police in the investigation.

The tragic accident, which occurred on Friday, occurred in the northern Yuncheng region of Shanxi.

Huawei partners with Aito, providing technology for its vehicles and helping with manufacturing.
