Brit magazine boss, 73, dies when car crashes into wall at ‘high speed’ in horror accident in Thailand

A veteran British magazine editor has died after crashing his car into a wall in Thailand at “high speed”.

The editor of the English-language lifestyle magazine “Big Chilli”, Colin Hastings, 73, tragically passed away on Monday.

Doctors and rescue teams removed the unconscious journalist from his Toyota Vios and tried to revive him with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but were unsuccessful.

Colin was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:15 p.m.

Police Lieutenant Santichon Hoomart, from Sattahip Police Station, said: “The car may have been traveling at a high speed before the collision.

“The driver was found to have an underlying medical condition. We are investigating whether this caused the accident.”

A homeowner is said to have called the police when Colin’s car crashed into the wall.

The officer added: “The victim is not believed to have been drunk. There was no smell of alcohol.

“There are no other charges in the case and no one is suspected of any crime. It was an accident.

“The driver’s insurance will pay for the damage to the wall.”

The editor’s body was taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Bangkok Police Hospital for post-mortem examination.
