The best way for Israel to show that it is complying with international law is to flood Gaza with aid, Defense Secretary Grant Shapps has appealed.
He said that “given the level of human suffering” it was vital to end the bloody conflict.

He called on the Hamas terrorists behind the October 7 massacre in Israel to accept a “generous” hostage deal as a first step towards a longer peace.
Speaking on the Sun’s new World At War programme, he said: “Bringing this to a conclusion is absolutely essential.
“It is in the interest of the Palestinian people.
“It is in Israel’s interest and in the world’s interest to see this happen.
“And the way to do that is to free the hostages, which started all of this.”
This comes amid fears in Israel that Prime Minister Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Yoav Gallant could receive arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
Shapps said: “Israel has the right to its own self-defence, but it must do so in a way that is compatible with international humanitarian law, in the way that all democratic and civilized nations must do.
“We said the same in public and in private.
“I say this to Yoav Gallant, the prime minister says this to Netanyahu, his counterpart’s foreign secretary: whatever you do, you must ensure that your actions comply with international law.”
He added: “One of the best ways for Israel to demonstrate compliance is to get aid flowing.
“I want to see Gaza flooded with this aid to help people, not just with food, but with medicine and so much more.”
Netanyahu has vowed to attack the city of Rafah – where a million refugees are sheltering – with or without a hostage deal.
And he said that if the ICC issued arrest warrants for him and his top lieutenants, it would be a “scandal on a historic scale.”
