Initial claims for unemployment benefits in Louisiana fell last week compared to the previous week, the U.S. Department of Labor reported Thursday.
New claims for unemployment benefits, an indicator of layoffs, fell to 1,426 in the week ended April 27, down from 1,695 the previous week, the Labor Department said.
U.S. unemployment claims remained the same at 208,000 last week on a seasonally adjusted basis.
New Hampshire saw the largest percentage increase in weekly claims, with claims increasing 103.7%. Rhode Island, meanwhile, saw the largest percentage drop in new claims, with claims falling 65.3%.
