May 4 — Verus Research, a New Mexico-based team of scientists and engineers specializing in advanced research and development, signed a five-year, $28 million contract with the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation.

The company specializes in research and development of radio frequency communications for high-power microwave systems and nuclear engineering, with extensive modeling, simulation, testing and design work.

Under the new Airborne Non-Kinetic Systems for Test contract, Verus Research will support Department of Defense investments in testing and evaluating directed energy technologies.

“We are honored to receive the new contract from the U.S. Army relating to the testing and evaluation of emerging directed energy technologies,” said Dr. J. Mark DelGrande, chief technology officer at Verus Research.

The company, launched in 2014, will also continue to develop its Verus Research Reusable Recoverable Airborne Engagement program, which seeks to use a recoverable aerial platform to test high-power microwave air-to-ground engagements.
