Chilling footage shows dozens of Israeli tanks and bulldozers massed at the Rafah border crossing in the middle of the night.
The video shows military vehicles, including from the “Iron Tracks” and “Givati” units, crossing the border fence as Israeli forces continue to advance through Rafah.
The footage, released by the IDF, shows tanks, military vehicles and bulldozers in southwest Gaza on Monday night as Israel continues its operations to attack Rafah.
This comes after US President Joe Biden promised to withhold weapons from Israel if his forces launch a major invasion of the southern city of Gaza.
Biden, who said Israel failed to produce a convincing plan to safeguard civilians in Rafah, issued its sternest warning yet against an all-out ground invasion.
“If they go to Rafah, I will not provide the weapons that were used…to deal with the cities.”
He added: “We will not supply the weapons and artillery shells that were used.”
He said: “Civilians were killed in Gaza as a result of these bombs. It’s simply wrong.”
But he clarified that the US would “continue to ensure that Israel is safe.”
He said the US would not “walk away from Israel’s security” but would stop supporting “Israel’s ability to wage war in these areas.”
In response, Israel called Biden’s comments “very disappointing.”
The US, by far Israel’s biggest arms supplier, on Wednesday canceled a shipment of 3,500 heavy bombs destined for Israel.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the Biden administration halted “a shipment of high payload munitions” amid fears about Israel’s push to invade Rafah.
The city’s mayor warned that the enclave is “on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe”.
At least 1.4 million people – more than half of Gaza’s population – are believed to be sheltering in the city which borders Egypt, after fleeing fighting from other parts of the bombed-out enclave.
Tank and antenna strikes continued to attack Gaza with the IDF saying it is protecting the Zeitoun neighborhood starting with a series of intelligence-based airstrikes strikes at approximately 25 “terrorist targets.”
Israeli forces have already eliminated several armed men hiding in Rafah after they invaded the war zone on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Israeli troops discovered three “significant” tunnel shafts as they continued to search for hostages.
Tanks took over the Gaza side of the Rafah border with Egypt on Tuesday in what Israel called a “limited” ground offensive.
The attack came after Israel rejected Hamas’ ceasefire negotiation and promised to exterminate the terrorist group, despite warnings of mass civilian casualties.
Despite international efforts for a ceasefire, Israel has stated that an attack on Rafah is crucial to its goal of destroying Hamas.
