Taylor Swift performed “The Tortured Poets Department” on the Eras Tour in Paris on Thursday, dramatically refreshing a set list that had been relatively static for more than a year.

The show at Paris La Défense Arena marked Swift’s return to live performance, following her last show on March 9 in Singapore. It was the first time she took the stage since the release of “Poets” on April 19.

Fans were wondering if and how “Poets” would be integrated into her setlist, which was around 45 songs long and largely unchanged since she began. Ages in March 2023 in Glendale, Arizona.

In a Swift video recently posted to YouTube Shortsshe presented clips of what appeared to be rehearsals for the next leg of the tour.

Fans were quick to point out costumes and props they hadn’t seen before on the Eras Tour – including a brief view of their dancers performing with hats and canes, as well as a quick glimpse of a barrier that appeared to feature “TTPD.” logo.

That pretty much sealed the deal that Swift would usher in a new era, which came to life on Thursday in Paris.

“Poets” made its debut on “Eras” in the second half of the program and included: “But Daddy I Love Him”, “So High School”, “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” “Down Bad”, “Fortnight”, “The Smallest Man That Ever Lived” and “I Can Do This With a Broken Heart”.

The wildcard of Swift’s Ages shows has been a two-song acoustic set when she sings two songs not normally included in shows and talks to her fans.

The “surprise” songs that followed Thursday’s “Poets” set were “Paris” on guitar and “loml” on piano. Swift also took the opportunity to tell fans that her nickname for the “TTPD” section is “female rage the musical,” to applause from the crowd.

Swift’s show times have been consistent throughout the tour, with performances generally lasting less than 3 and a half hours. So the addition of “Poets” meant the subtraction of several fan favorites.

The first hint that changes were on the way came early in Paris, when “The Archer,” which was the sixth song in the show, faded as Swift quickly transitioned from her “Lover” era to “Fearless.”

Other strong Eras names that disappeared on Thursday were “Long Live” – added to the setlist following the release of “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” in July – “‘Tis the Damn Season”, “The Last Great American Dynasty,” “The 1” and “Tolerate It.”

Swift also switched up the order of the eras, like her “Red” set – with the beloved and crowd-pleasing “22,” “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “I Knew You Were Trouble” and the 10-minute-long . “All Too Well” – rose from sixth place in the batting order to third place. All of the songs from “Red” that were played consistently on tour survived Thursday night’s cuts.

After “Red” came “Speak Now” and then “Reputation,” before Swift released her first double-era set — combining sister albums “Folklore” and “Evermore.”

Swift took advantage of the European kickoff to introduce a series of wardrobe changes. She wore an orange and red jumpsuit for “Lover” and a pink and blue skater skirt for “1989” that echoed her original 2014 style.

There were dynamic new introductions for some eras, including new choreography before Swift took the stage for “Enchanted.”

And when she called out the names of all her albums before launching into the show opener, “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince,” she added “TTPD” to the discography.
