Melania Trump confirms son Barron, 18, will not go to RNC to nominate Donald for election as hush money trial continues

MELANIA Trump announced that her son Barron Trump has declined to be a delegate to the Republican National Convention.

Barron, 18, was recently chosen as one of Florida’s at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention.

The Florida Republican Party selected him for the position on Wednesday, according to a list of delegates obtained by NBC News.

However, Melania shared that the soon-to-be high school graduate turned down the position.

“While Barron is honored to have been selected as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he unfortunately declines to participate due to prior commitments,” read Melania’s statement, first reported by Daily mail.

Barron would have played the role among his family, including Eric as delegation chairman, Donald Jr. and his fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle, and Tiffany and her husband, Michael Boulos, who are all delegates from Florida.

Everyone will attend the convention, which takes place in July, to nominate Donald Trump as the Republican Party’s nominee for the presidential election.

Trump’s youngest son has often remained on the political sidelines, but the former president recently revealed he may be more interested in them than the world thinks.

“He’s a little tall. I’ll tell you, he’s tall, but he’s a good-looking guy. And he’s really been a great student,” Trump told Kayal and Company on Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, according to the New York Post Office.

“And he likes politics. It’s kind of funny, he sometimes tells me, ‘Dad, this is what you have to do.’ Anyway, he’s a good guy. He’s a senior in high school and he’s going to college,” Trump continued.

Barron’s college decision continued to make headlines as his May 17 graduation approaches.

In April, a source said the 18-year-old was considering attending New York University in the fall after graduating from Oxbridge Academy, according to The Daily Beast.

Neither the Trump family nor NYU have commented on the report.

‘BARRON OYSTER’

Although the teenager’s political career was cut short, sources close to the Trumps say he could play an important role in the future.

“The world is Barron’s oyster,” a source revealed.

“He could be a major Republican player in the years to come if he so chooses.

“He’s only 18 and still has time to figure out the path he wants to take in life.”

A Trump official shared with Political that Barron is very interested in the political process.

The decision to make Barron a delegate also brought up some turbulent topics regarding the Trump family’s involvement in the Republican Party.

“This seems like just another example of how the extended Trump family has installed itself in the Republican Party,” said David Richards of the University of Lynchburg.

“This is part of the growing role the Trumps play in the Republican Party.

“Trump likes to keep his family close and involved.”

However, Richards is not quick to assume that this was a political tactic.

“In the broadest sense, that doesn’t mean much. There will be 2,429 delegates there, so any one individual isn’t a big deal.”
