A woman was found living in the roof sign of a Family Fare grocery store in Michigan and had been there for about a year, police said.
Midland police were notified about the woman living in the small space that houses the supermarket sign on April 23 after contractors working on the roof found her there.
The woman had a floor, computer, desk, printer, Keurig, and a food pantry in the space, which was 10 to 15 feet long, five feet wide, and approximately eight feet tall at its highest point. , according to the Midland Police Department.
“We made contact with her and she was told she did not have permission to live there,” said Brennon Warren, spokeswoman for the Midland Police Department. “She was formally inducted into the store and given information about services in our area, however, she did not want any of them.”
The woman, who police are not identifying, left without incident. Police discovered she had been living in the space for approximately a year, but it is unclear how she got onto the roof.
She has not been formally charged for living in the space, police said.
