donald trump carried out a policyI rally at the Jersey Shore on Saturday night with a crowd of tens of thousands, calling President Biden “a total idiot” and “not an intelligent man.”
Speaking to his supporters in the southern New Jersey resort town of Wildwood, the presumptive Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election said the silent money case in which he is involved It is nothing more than “a Biden show trial.”
Trump has repeatedly characterized the cases against him as being politically motivatedand is currently facing dozens of criminal charges in four different criminal cases.
He alleged that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and Judge Juan M. Merchan are “doing the bidding for corrupt Joe Biden.”
He also hinted that all the legal action against him is actually working in his campaign’s favor, claiming that some prosecutors have even delayed opening additional cases for fear of helping his re-election.
“I heard they were going to do some other things and they said from Washington… ‘we’re indicting him in the White House,’” Trump said. “They said, ‘Don’t do it.’”
An estimated 80,000 to 100,000 attendees attended the event, according to Lisa Fagan, spokeswoman for the city of Wildwood, who based her estimate on “dozens” of other events in the same space.
Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) said it was the largest political gathering in state history.
“As you can see, today we are expanding the electoral map because we are officially playing in the state of New Jersey,” Trump told the crowd, a sea of red MAGA hats. “We are going to win the state of New Jersey,” he continued, referring to the fact that the state traditionally leans Democratic.
Last week, Trump spent his day off at courthouses in Wisconsin and Michigancampaigning in the decisive states for the general elections.
During his hour-and-a-half speech in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Trump said Biden’s re-election would raise taxes and “lead to the destruction of the country. We have so many negative forces in this country,” he added.
The Republican leader also called for protests on college campuses, urging university presidents to “remove the camps immediately, defeat the radicals, and reclaim our campuses for all normal students who want a safe place to learn.”
As the November presidential election approaches, President Biden has also been traveling to drum up support for his re-election campaign.
While holding fundraisers on the West Coast this weekend, Biden focused attention on Trump’s reaction to his defeat in the 2020 presidential race.
“It’s clear that… when he lost in 2020, something broke inside him,” Biden told supporters in Seattle on Saturday. “He’s not just obsessed with losing in 2020, he’s clearly distraught.”
