The horrific violence committed against acclaimed art dealer Brent Sikkema has been revealed after the diary of his murder was discovered.

On January 13, the art dealer was found dead in his two-story vacation home in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he had moved following a scornful two-year divorce process with his ex Daniel, 53.

Sikkema, 75, was killed in an attack allegedly financed by her ex-husband, who was seeking a larger payout in their divorce settlement.

His death sparked a manhunt for the perpetrator, leading authorities to delivery man Alejandro Triana Prevez just five days after Sikkema’s death.

Prévez appointed. Sikkema’s ex-husband as the person who hired him to kill the art dealer.

In the divorce, Daniel was seeking $6 million of Sikkema’s $20 million fortune, giving her the alleged motivation to murder her millionaire ex-husband.

Daniel has maintained his innocence since being appointed by Prevez.

“I hope that, based on evidence and not false allegations, what really happened will come to light,” Daniel told Wall Street Journal.

Now, as speculation swirls about whether the grieving ex-husband was part of a scheme to take down Sikkema, the diary kept in Prevez prison reveals the gore of the art dealer’s last moments.

“He finds [Sikkema] sleeping with his mouth open, his naked body covered in silky sheets, breathing calmly,” wrote Prevez, in a third-person account of entering the room where Sikkema would meet his end.

The account continues, documenting Prevez’s own feelings about the murder he is about to commit.

“He moves to the side of the bed silently, trying to breathe calmly, but he can’t,” the entry says.

“He closes his eyes and throws himself on top of the victim, letting the knife enter,” he continues.

Prevez’s entry explains how Sikkema fought off his attack, succumbing to multiple stab wounds.

“‘The fight begins, he pulls out the knife with tears in his eyes and stabs three more times trying to do it [Sikkema] stop moving, an image that will never be erased”, concludes the entry.

Although upon entry Prevez admits to stabbing the art dealer four times, an autopsy revealed he suffered 18 penetrating wounds in total.

The delivery man also details how after brutalizing Sikkema, he apologized before covering the body with a sheet and fleeing the scene.

‘I WILL BE DEEPLY GRATEFUL’

Sikkema’s final minutes weren’t the only thing Prevez apparently documented.

The killer explained how he met and eventually killed Daniel.

Prevez attended the Polytechnic School of Havana, where he met Sikkema and Daniel, who were married at the time.

The couple hired him to look after their Havana property, which he did for years before traveling to São Paulo to reconnect with Daniel in 2022.

I will be deeply grateful, to the point that you will be part of my family and neither you nor your family will want anything.”

Diary of Alejandro Triana Prévez

It was during this trip to São Paulo that Prevez remembered Daniel asking him to kill Sikkema.

Prevez says in his diary that Daniel offered him US$200,000 and a place to stay during the attack.

“Plan: If you take my ex’s life, before the divorce process ends and it makes me a widower,” he reportedly quoted Daniel.

“I will pay you two hundred thousand dollars and I will be deeply grateful, to the point that you will be part of my family and neither you nor your family will want anything,” the supposed offer continued.

THE PLAN DEVELOPS

According to Prevez, he did not immediately accept the offer to kill Sikkema, telling Daniel that he would “think about the proposal.”

While he was considering the offer, sums of US$300 to US$500 were deposited into his account, which Brazilian police later linked to an account in Daniel’s name.

Daniel’s lawyers claim that this money was to pay Prevez for his work in Havana.

According to Prevez’s account, he traveled to Rio de Janeiro twice in 2023.

It’s like a rifle, but you only get one shot. Most importantly, though: it’s silent.”

The first time he was there to plan the murder, the second time he was there to commit it, but then he backed out of the deal.

Daniel reportedly told the man, “If you don’t want to do it, don’t do it, but forget that I exist.”

Eventually, by Prevez’s explanation, he was unable to support his family, so he returned to Daniel and accepted the offer.

He purchased a Jag 2 crossbow for $389, planning to use it in the murder.

“It’s like a rifle, but you can only fire one shot. But most importantly: it is silent,” said Prevez’s diary.

But, at the last minute, with no explanation given, Prevez chose to use a knife that would hit Sikkema 18 times, ending his life.
