AN ASSISTANT director is among four people who have been charged and arrested in a decade-old cold case involving the murder of three people.

Keante Harris, 45, was working as an assistant principal at a school outside Birmingham, Alabama, when he was arrested Wednesday after a grand jury indicted him and three others earlier this month.

The other three suspects also charged with intentional homicide include Kenneth Thompson, Kevin Harris and Darrell Harris.

All four suspects were arrested between Wednesday and Friday of last week in three different states, Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen said in a statement. declaration.

Walter Gonsoulin, superintendent of Jefferson County schools where Harris worked, confirmed his position to the local CBS affiliate WAKA-TV.

“We were informed that Mr. Keante Harris was arrested on Wednesday afternoon,” Gonsoulin said.

“At this time we are still gathering facts about the specifics of this situation. However, early indications are that the charges are not related to this individual’s employment with Jefferson County Schools.”

“Per standard procedure, Mr. Harris has been placed on paid administrative leave. As more facts become available, we will act in accordance with our district policy,” she added.

The charges stem from 2013, when three people were found tortured and murdered inside an abandoned car on the side of a highway in Fulton County, Georgia, south of Atlanta.

The victims were later identified as residents of Montgomery, Alabama. Cheryl Colquitt-Thompson, 32, Quinones King, 33, and Rodney Cottrell, 43, according to the local NBC affiliate WSFA.

They were killed and tortured in nearby Clayton County before being taken to Interstate 85 in Fulton County, according to the Clayton County Police Department.

“The victims were lured to a residence on Magnolia Drive in Jonesboro where they were forced into the residence at gunpoint. They were later placed in the back seat of a Dodge Charger and driven to Fulton County,” police said.

The Clayton County Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The US Sun.
