The new version of the ChatGPT AI chatbot has been introduced and offers almost instant results in text, vision and audio, according to its creator.

OpenAI said it was much better at understanding images and sounds than previous versions.

It offers the possibility of maintaining “conversations” in real time with the chatbotincluding the ability to interrupt your responses.

The company says it “accepts as input any combination of text, audio, and image and generates any combination of text, audio, and image output.”

GPT-4o will be deployed in the coming weeks amid a battle by technology companies to develop increasingly advanced devices. artificial intelligence tools.

Monday’s announcement showed tasks such as real-time language translation; Use your vision to solve a math question on a piece of paper and guide a blind person around London.

GPT-4o can respond to audio in as little as 232 milliseconds, with an average of 320 milliseconds, which the company says is similar to human response time.

To try to alleviate concerns about bias, fairness and misinformation, the Microsoft-backed company says the new version has undergone extensive testing by 70 outside experts.

Previous versions of the chatbot have caused unrest in schools and universities because some students used it to cheat by producing convincing essays.

When it launched two years ago, ChatGPT was said to be the fastest app to reach 100 million monthly active users.

The announcement also stole the lead from Google, which is expected to show off its new AI features at its annual developers conference tomorrow.
