VLADIMIR Putin unveiled the latest intercontinental ballistic missile in his nuclear arsenal, nicknamed “The Scepter”, which can be launched from hidden submarines.

The menacing 40-foot rocket has an estimated range of 5,160 miles and can carry up to 10 individually guided nuclear warheads, all designed to attack multiple targets.

A chilling new video released by the Russian military shows the missile, called Bulava in Russian, in action for the first time during Putin’s latest testing exercises.

The footage shows a huge explosion rising from the surface of the water as a thunderous missile explodes leaving thick clouds of smoke in its wake.

It moves at incredible speed through the sky before disappearing into the clouds.

These exercises were previously seen as a stark warning to the West and NATO to tread carefully in the coming weeks as an all-out war looms.

The RSM-56 Bulava is being viewed by the Kremlin as a crucial piece of weaponry in Russia’s nuclear trio of land, sea and air destruction.

Naval officers in the Northern and Pacific Fleets were seen deploying seven Borei-class submarines in the exercises believed to be carrying the warheads.

It was reported that 16 Bulava missiles were being stopped by the submarines in the tests, with several being launched in the footage.

Each is believed to have a massive launch mass of 37 tons.

The first signs of Russian success with the Bulava missiles came last November, when the Defense Ministry said a submarine had successfully tested the weapons.

Putin orders nuclear weapons test as Russia warns Western troops stationed in Ukraine will trigger ‘global catastrophe’

They claimed it had been fired from an underwater position in the White Sea, north Russia.

Hit one target thousands of kilometers away, on the Kamchatka peninsula.

The missile was developed by the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology, with work beginning in the 1990s.

Just a few weeks ago, Putin ordered tactical nuclear weapons tests while Russia directly warned the West to back off.

The Kremlin has told Western officials that if they continue to support Ukraine, a “worldwide catastrophe” will explode at the hands of Russian nuclear weapons.

It comes as a former US ambassador told The Sun that Putin is very serious about “confronting the West” – and the use of nuclear weapons should not be ruled out.

Frank G. Wisner, who served in President Bill Clinton’s administration, attacked Vlad and described the Russian tyrant as “extraordinarily reckless.”

Recently, the grieving widow of Alexei Navalny, Putin’s number one enemy, claimed that the “unpredictable” Putin was ready to use nuclear weapons.

She warned that the power-hungry president wanted to keep the world living in fear and “no one knows what Putin will do next.”

Military experts also warned that the Russian tyrant would “sacrifice everything” and could even launch a nuclear weapon into orbit if he felt his iron grip was slipping.

But if things change in Ukraine’s favor, there are fears that the erratic Vlad could push the nuclear button and trigger the start of World War III.

Rumors of nuclear war have increased in recent weeks after NATO and Russia began moving their nuclear arsenals across Europe.

Poland announced that it would be ready to host nuclear weapons on the NATO border with Russia.

Putin’s nuclear threats

BELOW is a timeline of some of the most cruel and veiled threats Vladimir Putin has made against the West with his nuclear arsenal since he invaded Ukraine two years ago.

FEBRUARY 24, 2022 – Vladimir Putin: “No matter who tries to stand in our way or even more so create threats to our country and our people, they must know that Russia will respond immediately and the consequences will be such as you have never seen in its entire history.”

MARCH 26, 2022 – Putin’s friend Dmitry Medvedev: “We have a special document on nuclear deterrence. This document clearly states the reasons why the Russian Federation has the right to use nuclear weapons. … [This includes] when an act of aggression is committed against Russia and its allies.”

APRIL 20, 2022 – Vladimir Putin: “[The new Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads] will force everyone who is trying to threaten our country in the heat of frenzied and aggressive rhetoric to think twice.”

FEBRUARY 18, 2024: Putin’s friend Dmitry Medvedev: “Attempts to return Russia to the 1991 borders will lead only to one thing. Towards a global war with Western countries, using the entire strategic arsenal of our state.”

FEBRUARY 29, 2024 – Vladimir Putin: “They must understand that we also have weapons that can hit targets on their territory… All this really threatens a conflict with the use of nuclear weapons and the destruction of civilization. Don’t they understand this?

MARCH 13, 2024 – Vladimir Putin: “From a military-technical point of view, we are, of course, ready. … Weapons exist to be used. We have our own principles.”

President Andrzej Duda has said his country will adopt nuclear weapons if asked by NATO, as they search for a place to deploy weapons and respond to Putin’s latest frightening threats.

Poland occupies a crucial position in terms of the ongoing war in Ukraine, with the NATO nation sharing a border with Belarus and the Russian military park of Kaliningrad.

Ukraine was always assured that it would have Poland’s full support if necessary due to its position.

The tyrant and his Kremlin cronies have recently begun to reinforce their arsenal in Belarus and Kaliningrad, building up their worrying war.

Russia has the most nuclear weapons in the world and tips the scales with almost 6,000.

Only the US comes close to Putin’s tally, with most other nations unable to house more than 400 nuclear weapons.
