Cohen, 57, is the star witness in the criminal trial against the former president, and prosecutors confirmed Tuesday that he will be the last to testify in the case.

He testified about his role in the alleged silence money scheme that took place in the days before the 2016 presidential elections.

He was questioned for several hours by prosecutors before being handed over for questioning and Trump’s lawyer, Todd Blanche, took the reins.

Blanche immediately questioned Cohen about comments he made about the former president at the start of the trial.

“On April 15, after the trial began, you referred to President Trump as an idiot dictator, didn’t you?” Blanche asked.

Cohen responded, “It sounds like something I said.”

Blanche asked Cohen to confirm whether he said he wanted to see Trump in a cage, “like a damn animal. Do you remember saying that?”

“I remember saying that,” Cohen responded.

During questioning, Cohen said the trial was personally important to him.

“Is this trial important to you, Mr. Cohen?” Blanche asked.

“Personally, yes,” Cohen said.

Stormy negotiations

Expelled lawyer said he used $130,000 of his own money to keep adult film actress Stormy Daniels quiet about making her alleged affair with Trump public.

Cohen, who described himself as a Trump loyalist, told the jury how he went to great lengths to protect the real estate mogul at his own expense.

“I regret doing things for him that I shouldn’t have – lying, bullying people to achieve a goal,” Cohen, who served as Trump’s lawyer from 2006 to 2018, told court.

“I have no regrets about working with the Trump Organization. As I expressed before, these were very interesting and excellent moments.

“But in order to maintain loyalty and do the things he asked of me, I violated my moral compass and suffered the penalty, as did my family.”

Cohen said he pleaded guilty to eight criminal charges, including tax evasion and campaign finance violations, after speaking with your familywhich helped him redirect his loyalty.

When asked how the day went, Cohen told the jury: “[The] worst day of my life.”

He added: “I made a decision based again on the conversation I had with my family that I would no longer lie for President Trump.

“I apologized to Congress. I apologized to the country. I apologized to my family.”
