A WALMART customer criticizes Walmart for its pickup policy, claiming one detail during checkout makes it inconsequential.

The customer is one of many who questioned Walmart’s receipt verification policy and said they had a simple solution when asked for proof of purchase.

“I always just wave the receipt and tell them to have a great day,” said the shopper he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“It doesn’t make sense for them to check, and I didn’t sign up for it.”

The customer also shops at Costco, but has fewer issues with their receipt verification policy because they are part of the association.

“Costco is different because nothing is bagged and to get a card you agree to be checked on the way out,” they continued.

Another user pointed out a similar issue, stating that Walmart employees rarely check to make sure everything is correct.

“Costco, on the other hand, is in their membership agreement so they can stop and check your receipt and half the time Walmart just looks at the receipt and says you’re fine, what was the point?” another user stated.

Receipt checks are one of many policies retailers like Walmart use to prevent theft.

However, others believe it is not as effective as the company imagines.

“It surprises me that @walmart still checks receipts at the door when a good percentage of their losses come from their own employees,” said one shopper wrote on Xold Twitter.

She said that when she was shopping, she noticed that employees were “randomly” targeting people instead of stopping everyone.

“People who know how to steal know patterns,” the user added.

Other shoppers revealed that they felt harassed when dealing with some Walmart employees.

“It’s really amusing how @Walmart refuses to hire cashiers, baggers, employees to keep items stocked or people to pick up carts in the middle of the parking lot, but they have plenty of people to chase you out to show them a receipt later you did their job by checking,” he wrote another angry buyer.

Another user even detailed how he was persecuted for not showing his receipt.

“@Walmart clerk chased me down and yelled at me to show my receipt after I refused because I’m not legally required to do so in any sense,” they he wrote.

She insisted it could put Walmart workers in dangerous situations, suggesting customers could retaliate.

RECEIPT VERIFICATION WITH AI

As Walmart customers face issues with their receipt verification policy, Sam’s Club introduces a new technological solution.

Its new AI-powered machines capture people’s receipts as they leave the store.

“Both checkout technology and Scan & Go are driving new levels of convenience and increasing member satisfaction,” Sam’s Club chief product officer Todd Garner said in a press release.

“What sets Sam’s Club apart from our competitors is our ability to implement this technology seamlessly and at scale across our nearly 600 clubs across the country.

“Whether it’s a single item or a full cart, we’re revolutionizing the checkout experience.”

Walmart shoppers hope the retailer will incorporate similar technology.

“Great idea. Use it at Walmart too. No more problems with employees fighting with customers who paid for all their items,” one person he wrote on Facebook.

“Walmart is next! There are never any open human boxes!” someone else commented.

“Then stop trying to check my receipt at Walmart!” a third person wrote.
