The cause of death has not yet been determined.

However, no foul play is suspected.

Authorities at the scene believe Stewart may have suffered a medical emergency, CNN reported.

Network CEO Mark Thompson called Stewart “a much-loved friend and colleague” in a memo sent to staff following news of her death.

“A veteran politician and Emmy-winning journalist who brought an unparalleled spark to CNN’s coverage, known across our agencies not just for her political knowledge but for her unwavering kindness.

“Our hearts are heavy as we mourn such an extraordinary loss.”

Several of Stewart’s colleagues at CNN paid tribute following the devastating news.

CNN anchor Jim Acosta wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that his “heart is broken.”

“We have been friends since the 2012 campaign. We spent so many weekends talking about politics with the wonderful
@MariaTCardona they always spoke with a lot of passion, but with kindness and civility. Alice was my friend and I loved her. TO TEAR APART.”

Fellow CNN political commentator Alyssa Farah Griffin is “devastated.”

“Alice Stewart was smart, smart, funny and, most importantly, kind. She felt like she was from another time — a more decent time where we respectfully disagreed,” Griffin wrote.

“She was kind to me when I was in a difficult situation and I will never forget it. Sending love to those closest to her.”

“Horrible news about our beloved and talented commentator Alice Stewart. Simply horrible. We are all devastated,” CNN’s Jake Tapper wrote.

“Alice and I worked together at CNN for years and she was my favorite Republican,” wrote author Keith Boykin.

“We disagreed on almost every issue, but she was always civil and respectful.

REPORTER FOR COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

Born in Atlanta, Stewart began her career as a reporter and producer in Georgia.

She later moved to Little Rock, Arkansas to become a news anchor.

Stewart then served as communications director for Governor Mike Huckabee.

She played a similar role during her 2008 presidential run.

Stewart served as communications director for Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum during their respective 2012 Republican presidential bids.

Most recently, she served as communications director for Texas Senator Ted Cruz’s 2016 campaign.

Several politicians offered their condolences.

Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie wrote that he was “stunned and saddened” by the news.

“She was a political professional and a wonderfully nice person to talk to about any topic. I will miss Alice and pray for her family,” Christie continued.

‘TERRIBLE NEWS’

Stewart’s fans offered condolences over the shocking loss on social media.

“I’m sorry to hear about Alice Stewart. We will all miss her bright personality when it comes to political news and opinions. The world of politics is a little less bright,” wrote one person on X, formerly Twitter.

“I’m still digesting this terrible news,” wrote another.

“My deep and sincere condolences to your loved ones.”
