“We thank our wonderful Glen Allen booksellers for their many years of hard work and dedication, and they, like us, look forward to welcoming them back to our new bookstore in the near future,” the statement continues.

Until this store opens, employees will have the opportunity to work at one of the other nearby locations.

There are three remaining Barnes & Noble stores in Richmond, all within a 30-minute drive of the Glen Allen store.

Customers at the soon-to-be-closed store were upset by the announcement.

The Glen Allen location isn’t the only Barnes & Noble store to close this year.

The Tribeca location in New York City closed on January 14 after 16 years.

Like the Glen Allen location, the Tribeca store closed due to the owner’s plan to redevelop the facility.

In a note to customers, the retailer wrote that it was an “honor and privilege” to operate the Tribeca location.

Another Barnes & Noble store in Naperville, Illinois – a suburb of Chicago – also closed in January.

This store was open for 25 years.

“I’m sorry to hear about this closing. I bought so many wonderful books from this location.”
