A Lincoln County man wanted on child sexual assault charges was arrested in South Carolina on Friday.

On Thursday, deputies were called to investigate an assault on a minor, according to the sheriff’s office.
Through their investigation, detectives were able to charge Maxwell Sidney Fletcher, 30, of Mount Holly, NC, with multiple felony counts.
Authorities say Fletcher coached the East Lincoln High School boys soccer team.
Gaffney, SC police arrested Fletcher on Friday. He is currently being held at the Gaffney Detention Center on a fugitive from justice warrant.
The sheriff’s office says it expects to begin extradition proceedings for Fletcher next week.
Lincoln County authorities say the investigation is open and ongoing and that Fletcher has other outstanding felony warrants in Lincoln and Catawba counties.
Channel 9 reached out to the Lincoln County School District about Fletcher’s arrest and received this response:
“Max Fletcher was an assistant boys soccer coach in the fall of 2023 at East Lincoln High School. He is no longer associated with ELHS or Lincoln County Schools.”
