As the grand “transformative” plan comes to fruition, customers make their own demands on the company.

One foodie shared his own opinion on what Cracker Barrel should do first.

“All Cracker Barrel needs to do is improve service and actually get your food to the table hot and not microwaved…Cracker Barrel plans to invest $700 million in a massive ‘transformation,'” said one customer posted for X, formerly known as Twitter.

Another customer responded to the post, stating that the transformation was “a waste of money”.

“I’ve eaten there before when I was traveling around the US. The transformation is a waste of money. Fresh, hot food and better service are where they need to focus,” they commented.

The initial user responded “exactly” to the comment.

WHAT IS THE PLAN?

The homey, comfortable restaurant plans to spend $700 million over the next three years, according to Online Restaurant Business.

Currently, the money has been distributed in increments; $160 million to $180 million in its next fiscal year, $180 million to $220 million in fiscal 2026, and $260 to $300 million in fiscal 2027.

Cracker Barrel reported a 16% loss of its customers last year.

The 54-year-old company hopes the move will reverse restaurant declines by updating operations, menu and customer perception.

Executives are aware that the business is losing out to other companies when it comes to menu options, value, convenience and overall guest experience.

“We are generally in the middle of the pack of peers and we don’t lead in any of those areas,” CEO Julie Masino told the outlet.

She also revealed that the main problem was that the restaurant was “now as relevant” as it was before.

The company hopes to make more contemporary changes to the business, without losing the nostalgic feeling that so many customers love about the environment.

Four major changes will include the restaurant’s menu, pricing, physical appearance and exterior options.

While results will ebb and flow due to continued low traffic, there are hopes they will improve in the second half of fiscal 2026 and next year.

The transformation program hopes to be a solution “for the next 10 years and beyond,” Masino said.

“We simply have to invest in the future,” she said.

McDonald’s has also made some recent menu changes that customers consider “lazy.”

Wendy’s has announced a new 50-piece Nuggs Party Pack that rivals McDonald’s.
