Elvis Presley’s former home and burial site is set to be sold at a foreclosure auction Thursday, but his granddaughter is trying to stop the court-approved Graceland sale.

Actress and model Riley Keough, Elvis’s granddaughter, who became the new owner of Graceland when her mother Lisa Marie Presley died at 54 in January 2023 – alleges in a lawsuit that the pending sale is “fraudulent”, reports NBC News, the American network associated with Sky.

The case stems from a 2018 deed of trust that the late mother of Keough, Elvis’s only daughter, allegedly signed, guaranteeing a $3.8 million loan from Naussany Investments and Private Lending LLC in Missouri.

The company claims Graceland was used as collateral on the loan, which was never repaid.

But in new court documents, Keough is fighting the sale of the Memphis, Tennesseecompound: claims that his mother never gave anything away and never borrowed money.

In a statement to NBC News, Elvis Presley Enterprises, the entity that manages Graceland and the assets of the Elvis Presley Trust, suggested that the announced sale is a plan.

It said: “Elvis Presley Enterprises can confirm that these claims are fraudulent. There is no foreclosure sale. Simply put, the countersuit that has been filed is to stop the fraud.”

The lawsuit filed May 15 in Shelby County Chancery Court alleges the loan never came to fruition. Lisa Marie Presley he never gave it his signature, the creditor – identified in a public notice of sale as Naussany Investments and Private Lending LLC – does not exist, and the notary for the loan never notarized it.

Naussany Investments did not respond to a request for comment from NBC News on Monday.

Keough was reportedly able to obtain a temporary restraining order against any sales before a court rules on his request for an injunction.

According to court documents, a hearing on Keough’s claim is scheduled for Wednesday.
