A pregnant woman has been arrested after allegedly driving drunk and causing a hit-and-run that left two people dead.
Ashely Monroe, 35, of Perrinton, Michigan — about 40 minutes north of Lansing — allegedly crashed her car into a group of 16 people Saturday night.
The horrific crash injured 14 people, ages two to 60, when the car struck a group of people as they walked along the shoulder of the road, according to the CBS affiliate. WLNS.
A 30-year-old Grand Haven man and a 42-year-old Grand Ledge man were killed.
She was arrested three minutes after calling police about the crash in Watertown — about two hours northeast of Lansing.
On Monday afternoon, the mother of four pleaded not guilty and waived a reading during her arraignment.
She was charged with two counts of operating under the influence of alcohol causing death and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing death, according to WLNS.

Monroe was also charged with seven counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing serious injury.
During her arraignment, her attorney asked for a reasonable bond, arguing that the mother was a long-time Michigan resident with no criminal record.
The state initially asked for bail at $500,000, but the judge doubled it, totaling $1 million.
Her lawyer also said that Monroe was pregnant and was already the mother of four other children aged 1, 7, 11 and 13.
She lived with her fiancé and worked for the Secretary of State as a clerk for 18 months.
Accusations against Ashley Monroe

Monroe cried and sat wide-eyed as prosecutors read the deeds of her alleged crime.
During the investigation, it was determined that Monroe allegedly had a nearly empty bottle of Crown Royale, as well as several prescription bottles on her person.
When her alcohol level was tested in jail, she was reportedly at 0.183, which is twice the legal limit of 0.08.
Police also allegedly found “blood, hair and other tissue” in the car after she was arrested, according to WLNS.
The alleged damage to the front passenger side of the car was also “consistent” with the accident.
Witnesses recalled his “erratic and dangerous driving before and after running over this group of people,” according to prosecutors, as reported by WLNS.
Following the horrific incident, the sheriff’s office released a statement.
“With heavy hearts, we pray for all individuals and families affected by this incident. We are here to help you all,” the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office said.
Prosecutors told the judge Monday that as they learn the condition of those in the hospital, charges may be added and some of the current charges “may become more serious,” according to WLNS.
His next court date is June 6.
