Special public prosecutor Mahavir Kisanawat said, “Magistrate Anil Gupta of Bhilwara POCSO court declared the two main suspects guilty in the event.”

The chilling case and historic verdict were labeled “the rarest of the rare.”

The victim’s distraught parents were also present during the hearing and finally said: “We got justice.”

“My daughter got justice today. I haven’t been able to eat properly in the last few months. Now I will have food with peace of mind,” said the victim’s mother.

The cruel incident happened last year after the victim – who cannot be identified – was reported missing after leaving to work in a field.

A case was opened by the victim’s family soon after she failed to return home.

But the girl’s brother – who went out in search of her – became suspicious when he saw a furnace burning near her house, which caught his attention.

Police officers investigating the case told the Times of India: “The girl’s brother saw several charcoal ovens set up by people from a nomadic community.

“The smoke coming out of one of the ovens caught his attention and made him suspicious, as they were not active at night.

“He searched the oven with a stick and sifted through the charred items.”

The heartbroken boy found his sister’s bracelet, which he had given to her just days before the unspeakable horror.

Several charred body parts and clothing were recovered from the oven by specialized forensic experts, while other remains were found discarded in the surrounding area.

It was concluded that the young girl was tragically set on fire while she was still alive after evil killers doused her with flammable liquids.

The harrowing case caused widespread outrage across the country as many people took to the streets to protest against India’s rising rape cases.

Last year, during violence in Manipur, police were accused of handing over two women to a large armed mob before parading them naked down the street in a disturbing video.

The Supreme Court said police allegedly handed over the young victims to hordes of men, who later sexually abused them.

Harrowing footage showed the two women being dragged into a field after being groped by the brutes.

The Supreme Court criticized the Manipur government and the Indian state police.

The court said, “For two months there was a total breakdown of law and order in Manipur, there was no law and order left.

“The police have no control over the situation, it seems that the police have not made arrests or recorded statements for two months.”

The extreme violence inflicted on young victims by hundreds of men sparked protests across the state.

The Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) condemned the attack on the woman as “disgusting” and also claimed that a woman was gang raped.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the incident had “shame India” and that “no blame will be spared”.

He said: “I assure the nation that the law will take its course with all its might.

“What happened to the daughters of Manipur can never be forgiven.”

Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh: “A thorough investigation is underway and we will ensure that strict action is taken against all perpetrators, including considering the possibility of capital punishment.”
