Kansas City Police Search Truck After Deadly Motorcycle Crash

Kansas City police are asking for the public’s help in finding a truck involved in deadly hit-and-run motorcycle accident on Tuesday night.

The crash happened Tuesday around 6:45 p.m. near U.S. Highway 40 and Phelps Road. A motorcycle was reportedly speeding on Highway 40 and appeared to be racing a dark-colored SUV, police said. An “older model” white Ford F-150 pickup truck was turning left from Highway 40 onto Phelps Road when the motorcycle allegedly struck the truck.

The motorcycle driver was thrown from the motorcycle upon impact and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

In a news release, police said both the dark SUV and the white Ford pickup truck left the scene of the collision. Highway 40 was closed at Phelps Road for about two and a half hours.

Police said the truck will have extensive damage to the passenger side bed. He was last seen traveling south in Phelps.

No other suspect information was available about the SUV the motorcyclist was allegedly racing.
