A HOMEOPER has shared a shocking video of them trying to get rid of cannibalistic crickets covering their home.

A Tiktoker named Craig Chamberlain captured the horrific scene of his Nevada home being covered in thousands of Mormon crickets.

Chamberlain documented the swarm around his garage and garage door.

He shared a close-up of the nuisances around his screen door.

To get rid of the worms, he tried using a leaf blower to scatter them.

Although the outside of his house was covered, fortunately no one was able to enter.

However, viewers were still horrified by what they saw.

“Nooooo, I would leave!” one commenter wrote.

“Burn it down,” added another person, referring to the house itself.

Intense swarms and outbreaks are said to be caused by droughts in the area.

Between May and September, Nevada is said to be in the dry season, which can create these conditions.

When they get hungry, they are known to become cannibals.

Scientists discovered that they sometimes ate each other if they were hungry enough.

“Insects themselves provided an important source of these nutrients, and cannibalism was rife,” the researchers wrote in the first edition of Annals of the National Academy of Sciences.

In certain environments, these insects can become dangerous to humans.

These swarms can sometimes be found partying in the middle of the road, which creates slippery conditions for drivers, according to researchers.

What is a Morman cricket

Mormon crickets are actually flightless katydids, which are a subfamily of bush crickets.

They are known to be harmless except to crops which they will happily devour. It is not only an agricultural pest but also a traffic hazard.

Many Western states have allocated funds to suppress Mormon cricket populations, including Oregon, which has allocated more than $6 million in recent years.

The recommended treatment for landowners is aerial spraying of diflubenzuron, an insecticide that prevents the nymphs from maturing.

Mormon cricket outbreaks can be caused by drought conditions. Once an outbreak begins, it usually lasts between 5 to 21 years.

‘THEY DON’T LIKE PEOPLE’

Sun Valley residents have also been dealing with extreme infestation.

One person stated that she and her neighbors are constantly trying to keep them away from their homes.

“The people behind me were walking around with their brooms,” Tracy Price told the ABC affiliate. KTVN.

“This morning I was walking through my yard and carried a broom with me as soon as they got close.

“They don’t like people, which is great because they get close to you or you get close to them, they run away.”

Like Chamberlain, they found bugs in walls, cars and bushes.

The Nevada Department of Agriculture recommends that residents obtain plastic cricket fencing that seals into the ground to help prevent property damage.
