Former General Hospital actor Johnny Wactor was shot and killed by thieves trying to steal the catalytic converter from his car. He was 37 years old.
The shooting occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday in the city center. the Angels (11 a.m. Saturday UK time) when Wactor approached three men in his car, according to police.
One of the three opened fire and Wactor later died at the hospital.
The suspects left and no arrests have been made.
The actor had just left a nearby rooftop bar, said his mother, Scarlett Wactor. When she saw the three of them next to his car, she thought they were towing it because she had parked it on the street, in an unknown location, she told US network NBC News, a Sky News partner.
Wactor’s agent, David Shaul, said the actor was “a true moral example to everyone who knew him.”
“Throughout the ups and downs of a challenging profession, he always kept his head held high and strived to be the best he could be,” Shaul said in a statement Sunday.
“Our time with Johnny was a privilege we would wish upon everyone. He would literally give you the shirt he was wearing. After more than a decade together, he will forever leave a hole in our hearts.”

Wactor played Brando Corbin on the soap opera General Hospital, which first aired in 1963, from 2020 to 2022.

He also appeared in a variety of films and television series, including Station 19, NCIS, Westworld, and the video game Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Scarlett Wactor said her son’s acting work could help her cope with her loss.
“I think when I see Johnny in the videos and recordings, I can only hope that he’s doing it in heaven and enjoying it,” he said.
NBC News reports that thieves target catalytic converters for their valuable metals, including platinum, palladium and rhodium.
