The world’s best boss handed all his workers an extremely generous £37,000 bonus after a year of booming sales.
Video games mogul Stephan Vogler, 47, paid a whopping £3 million to his entire astonished workforce after his games company CipSoft made record profits last year.
Dear boss Stephan is the co-founder of CipSoft in Regensburg, Germanyand is a proud advocate of giving back to his team at any opportunity.
The last reward was that anyone who had been with the company for more than two and a half years would receive an extensive salary package.
For most employees, the staggering £37,000 equates to 85% of their annual salary, meaning some will have pocketed more than £65,000 during the year.
While many think there must be some kind of catch to such a lucrative gift, Stephan says it’s a simple idea: the more money he makes, the more money his employees make.
He explained to Bild: “Cipsoft passes on a quarter of its annual profit to its employees in the form of bonuses.
“Everyone who has worked at Cipsoft for more than 2.5 years receives the full bonus.”
CipSoft’s annual profits soared last year, with the company turning over well over £12.3 million.
The 22% jump on previous years’ earnings meant that Stephan and his colleagues in the hierarchy had an abundance of cash available to share.
As one of the largest game developers in Germany, CipSoft employs more than 100 employees, according to its latest press release.
The emerging company was officially founded in 2001, but the four original founders, including Stephan, Guido Lubke, Stephan Payerbeen and Ulrich Schlott, made their first big play in 1997.
Tibia, a historic online RPG, was launched by the quartet almost three decades ago and became a worldwide sales success.
The video game has 500,000 players across 77 different game worlds, but the free mobile version has accumulated 10 million players worldwide.
Stephan said: “With Tibia we are lucky to run a live service game that has a very loyal community behind it, but in which we have also invested in the right places over the last few years.”
Tibia has maintained its appeal and loyal fan base, in part due to the action-packed game’s retro feel, as the game is still played in a two-dimensional layout.
Many other gaming companies in the industry have suffered recently after a massive boom during the Covid-19 pandemic.
CipSoft’s management team said that despite notable profits, the downturn in the industry as a whole made it difficult to celebrate.
Another important chef is Gary Chin, who became known for being the best chef in Britain.
Earlier this year, he gifted all 42 employees at Sumo Pan Asian restaurant a free trip to Barcelona.
Gary has made the annual trip an employee tradition for the past 10 years, closing the restaurants each time so everyone can celebrate together.
Another generous businessman spent more than £40,000 to fill his office on a series of luxury holidays.
Mark Neilson, 35, says he would rather spend money to reward hard work than see it accrue interest in his bank account.
Meanwhile, another generous boss gifted his entire company a £100,000 holiday to thank his team for their tireless work during the pandemic.
Plus ‘the UK’s best boss’ ever, who surprised his team with a £7k trip to Ibiza, covering all costs.
Start-up founder Ashley Jones even offered tickets to see Calvin Harris.
