A DOG lover who spent more than £12,000 transforming into a Shetland sheepdog has decided he wants to be a different animal.
Known only as Toco, the man spent two million yen – which is equivalent to £12,480 – on a realistic costume to fulfill his fantasy of living on all fours.
Toco became an internet sensation and racked up more than 52,000 subscribers on YouTube after sharing videos of himself being taken for walks and trying to perform tricks in exchange for fake dog food.
However, after having difficulty moving like a dog, the YouTuber changed his mind.
“Dogs and humans have different bone structures and the way they bend their legs and arms, so it’s very difficult to do movements like that,” he said.
“Plus, when they get dirty, they get their fur dirty, so it takes a lot of effort to clean it every time.”
Speaking to Japanese news outlet WanQol, Toco said it is exploring its options.
He added: “I could realistically be able to become another dog, a panda or a bear.
“A fox or cat would be cool too, but they’re too small for humans to try.
“I would like to fulfill my dream of becoming another animal one day.”
Toco received backlash online after his first transformation, with many social media users mocking him for spending thousands of dollars on a costume that took 40 days to make.
But in a series of surreal videos posted to his YouTube channel titled “I Want to Be an Animal,” Toco shared his experience of being led on a leash and meeting other canines.
Footage showed him sniffing dogs in a park before rolling on the ground.
Toco said his family members were initially “surprised” by his bizarre hobby, but have come to accept it.
The sheltie’s original outfit was purchased from a Japanese company called Zeppet, which creates costumes for films.
Toco now works with them to create their own looks.
He added: “When I realized that dream, this is how it happened.
“I’ve wanted to be an animal for as long as I can remember.”
It comes after Toco faced a crushing setback when he was cruelly shunned by real-life canines.
And the aspiring dog went on a mission to find his Lassie.
