Trump will appeal the guilty verdict
Donald Trump’s lawyer confirmed that the former president will appeal yesterday’s decision.
Speaking to CNN, Todd Blanche said that “as soon as we can appeal, we will.”
Blanche has added multiple times that she believes Trump was treated unfairly during the trial.
Can Trump still run for president?
Yes, Donald Trump can still run as the Republican candidate in November.
While there is no precedent for a convicted criminal being named head of state, there are also no rules against it.
“There is nothing that prohibits a convicted criminal from being president of the United States,” former prosecutor Neama Rahmani told The US Sun.
Rahmani added that Trump’s presidency would not be affected even if he were arrested for his crimes.
Trump calls trial “rigged”
Donald Trump yesterday criticized the decision to declare him guilty on all charges, calling himself a “very innocent man”.
“This was a disgrace,” he said after becoming the first former US president to be convicted of a crime.
“This was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who is corrupt. It’s a fraudulent trial, a shame.
“They didn’t allow us to change locations. We were at 5% or 6% in this district, in this area.
“This was a rigged and shameful trial, but the true verdict will be given by the people on November 5, and they know what happened here; everyone knows what happened here,” he added, referring to the presidential elections.
“We didn’t do anything wrong. I’m a very innocent man and everything is fine, I’m fighting for our country, I’m fighting for our constitution.
“Our entire country is being defrauded right now. This was done by the Biden administration to hurt and injure a political opponent.”
