The Allegheny County Police Department says an argument inside Ballers Hookah Lounge and Cigar Bar turned into a deadly shooting early Sunday morning.

“Do you argue? Okay, go away. You don’t have to draw your guns all the time, we can have enough,” said neighbor Rena Parrotte.

Parrotte told Channel 11 he received text messages from friends concerned about his well-being on Sunday morning.

That’s how she initially found out about the deadly shooting at the bar, located across the street in the 3500 block of Laketon Road.

“I’m still praying and hoping everyone is OK and then I watched the news,” Parrotte said.

Local news programming is where she learned about the shooting.

County police closed part of the road while they investigated the shooting. Relatives of a man who worked inside the bar showed up at the scene and told us they had not heard from him.

“That’s the saddest thing, people trying to give you all places to go and have fun at a certain time, and then look what happened here,” Parrotte said.

Detectives believe at least two people fired weapons.

A man and a woman were shot and killed, seven others were injured. One of the victims is in critical condition and the rest are expected to survive.

“Pittburgh has a lot to live up to, we have things coming. And things are coming and we don’t want to discourage all this good business from coming to Pittsburgh. Because of… we’re acting like idiots,” Parrotte said.

Detectives from the Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit are leading the investigation. Anyone with information about what happened at Baller’s Lounge is asked to call police at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
