Madalina Cojocari’s stepfather, Christopher Palmiter, files for divorce after testifying that missing teen’s mother ‘hid her’

MADALINA Cojocari’s stepfather has filed for divorce from his ex-wife, days after being found guilty in a trial related to the disappearance of the missing teenager.

Christopher Palmiter filed for divorce on Monday from Madalina’s mother, Diana, ending their eight-year marriage.

The couple married on January 9, 2016 and have no children together.

Palmiter did not reveal the reason for the divorce in any of the court documents.

The divorce documents also do not mention anything about his stepdaughter Madalina, who has been missing since November 2022, according to an ABC affiliate WSOC-TV.

Palmiter was recently found guilty of failing to report his stepdaughter missing.

Court documents revealed that Diana told her cousin she wanted to leave Palmiter.

“Diana reveals her delusional fears to [her cousin] and tells him that he has accumulated enough funds to ‘live on for two or three months,’” the court document says, according to the station.

Both Palmiter and his ex-wife were initially charged and arrested in 2022 and have pleaded not guilty.

However, after Diana changed her plea to guilty, she was released from prison shortly before her husband’s trial.

During the court proceedings, Palmiter revealed where he thought the missing child was.

“I think Diana took her somewhere with her Moldovan family,” Palmiter testified at the trial.

“I believe Diana hid her somewhere where she won’t be found.”
