Initial claims for unemployment benefits in Pennsylvania increased last week compared to the previous week, the U.S. Department of Labor reported Thursday.
New jobless claims, an indicator of layoffs, rose to 13,150 in the week ended April 6, up from 11,411 the previous week, the Labor Department said.
U.S. unemployment claims fell to 211,000 last week, down 11,000 claims from the previous week’s 222,000 on a seasonally adjusted basis.
Delaware saw the largest percentage increase in weekly complaints, with complaints increasing 253.3%. The Virgin Islands, meanwhile, recorded the largest percentage drop in new claims, with claims falling 56%.
