Firefighters rescued 28 people who were trapped hanging upside down 30 meters high on an amusement park ride in Oregon.

A person with a pre-existing medical condition was taken to the hospital as a precaution after the AtmosFEAR attraction was stopped, Oaks Amusement Park in Portland said in a statement posted on social media.

However, they said no one was injured in the incident.

Chris Ryan said he and his wife, who were at the park to celebrate her birthday, were about to ride the attraction, which works like a pendulum, with the ability to spin passengers completely upside down, when they saw that I was stuck.

Portland Fire and Rescue said in X that firefighters worked with engineers at Oaks Park, which first opened in 1905, to manually lower the ride, but that crews had been preparing to perform a high-angle rope rescue if necessary. necessary.

When the ride stopped, park staff immediately called emergency services, who arrived about 25 minutes later.

Maintenance workers were able to return the ride to its unloading position minutes later, the park said in a statement.

The attraction has been in operation since 2021 and has had no previous incidents, the park said. It will remain closed until further notice.

The park said it would work with the ride’s manufacturer and state inspectors to determine the cause of the outage.
