A shooting at a Texas park left two people dead and several injured Saturday, authorities said.
The victims were shot shortly before 11pm on Saturday, during a June tenth celebration at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, about 20 miles north of Austin.
An altercation broke out between two groups during a concert at the event and someone started shooting, Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said during a news conference there.
The two victims who were pronounced dead at the scene were not involved in the altercation, Allen said.
The shooting occurred near a sales area, far from the stage set up for the show, Allen said.
Police officers and firefighters who attended the event immediately began providing emergency medical care to several injured victims, who were transported to local hospitals, Allen said.
Police do not have any suspects in custody and investigators do not know how many shooters were involved. The investigation is ongoing, he said.
“This breaks the heart of a family who was going out to enjoy the night and now their life has changed forever as a result of someone who couldn’t care less about another person’s life,” Allen said.
