“After many wonderful years, we announce the permanent closure of our store in Commerce, Texas,” the store wrote on Facebook publish On thursday.

“We are deeply grateful for your loyalty and support throughout this journey.

“Thank you for being part of our family.”

Goodwill Industries of Northeast Texas asked disappointed shoppers to visit nearby locations in Greenville or Sulfur Springs.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to the business community for their support over the years,” the company added.

“Your contributions and sponsorship have been invaluable to us.”

No reason was given for the closure, leaving many regular traders asking questions as the store has just been renovated.

“But whyyy?” one wrote beneath news of the closure.

“So will all the merchandise go to the Greenville location or are they trying to get rid of all the items?” another asked.

“Wow. How sad. This store suddenly hasn’t become profitable enough?” a third suggested.

Meanwhile, others mourned the loss of the store and some said it was an embarrassment to the community.

“Oh no. Ugh, I hate that I loved that Goodwill. They just remodeled it. Sad day,” one wrote.

“Nooooo this is a huge loss for our community,” added another.

Some suggested that the rent on the site had become too high for the company to keep running.

The US Sun has reached out to Goodwill for comment.

Earlier this year, a Goodwill location in Connecticut relocated overnight “without missing a beat.”

This is a huge loss for our community.

The store in Hamden, 20 minutes north of New Haven, was a half-mile down the street to a former Rite Aid building.

After 20 years, Goodwill officials decided enough was enough at the location, which was “never ideal” due to its compact size and lack of parking.

So when Goodwill Industries of Southern New England found a new location for $3.3 million in 2023, the relocation was a no-brainer.

The 10,720-square-foot site with a drive-thru for donations and ample parking also allowed Goodwill to hire more employees.

Meanwhile, a Salvation Army store held a liquidation sale earlier this year before permanently closing its doors due to financial difficulties.

Stores selling at least $1,000 will close, says CEO

Dollar Tree, the parent company of Family Dollar, revealed that it would close about 1,000 stores over the next few years.

The company announced in March that it would close stores after the value of the discount retailer it acquired nearly a decade ago plummeted.

Dollar Tree plans to close about 600 Family Dollar stores in the first half of this year.

This will be followed by the closure of 370 Family Dollar and 30 Dollar Tree stores in the coming years.

The discount store chain also indicated that sales are being affected by the cost of living crisis and inflation.

But USA today added that Dollar Tree has also been hit by reduced government benefits for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

This has left families struggling to balance their finances, with up to $250 less per month.
